Our verdict
Grok is the obvious choice if you live on X and want an AI that can reference posts in real time. Grok 4 closed much of the quality gap with frontier models on reasoning benchmarks and added solid coding performance. Its persona is intentionally less sanitised than ChatGPT, which some users love and some find off-putting.
Its ecosystem is much smaller than OpenAI's, and the value depends heavily on whether you already pay for X Premium+. For everyone else, the case is harder to make.
