OpenAI
ChatGPT
The most widely used AI chatbot, powered by GPT-4o and GPT-5.
Our verdict
ChatGPT is the household name in conversational AI. It excels at general tasks: writing, coding, summarization, brainstorming, and tutoring. The free tier is generous for casual users, while ChatGPT Plus unlocks higher rate limits, advanced reasoning, image generation and a sizeable context window. For most non-technical users it remains the easiest entry point into modern AI.
Its main weaknesses are occasional confident hallucinations on niche topics and pricing that gets steep at API scale. Power users who push it on coding or long-document analysis sometimes prefer Claude or Gemini, but for sheer breadth and polish, ChatGPT is hard to beat.
